1. Who these terms are between
These terms are an agreement between you and PawGuard (“we”, “us”). They apply when you use the PawGuard mobile app, this website, or any service we provide through them.
By creating an account or using the service you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
2. Your account
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account, or old enough to consent to the processing of your personal data where you live, whichever is higher.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information on your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. Tell us immediately if you believe someone else has access to your account.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is used to harass other people, or that is used to post content we are required to remove.
3. Your pets and your content
You keep ownership of everything you upload: pet profiles, photos, posts, comments and alerts.
By uploading content you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute it for the purpose of running the service. That includes showing a missing-pet alert to other users nearby, which is the point of the service. This licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies retained in backups for a limited period or where we are required to keep them.
You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.
4. What you may not do
You may not use PawGuard to:
- post content that is unlawful, abusive, harassing, hateful, or that impersonates someone else;
- raise a missing or found alert that you know to be false;
- claim a pet that is not yours;
- collect other users’ data, whether by scraping, automation, or otherwise;
- attempt to breach, overload, or reverse engineer the service;
- advertise or sell animals.
5. Missing and found alerts
PawGuard is a tool for reaching people nearby. It is not a search-and-rescue service and it does not guarantee that a pet will be found.
We do not verify the identity of anyone who reports a found pet, and we do not verify ownership claims. Meeting someone to recover a pet is your decision, so take the usual precautions you would take meeting any stranger, and involve a vet, shelter, or the authorities where it is appropriate.
6. Content moderation
We remove content that breaks these terms, and we respond to reports from users. A decision can be reversed if it turns out to have been wrong. Repeated breaches can lead to an account being restricted or closed.
7. Availability
We work to keep the service running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or withdraw features. Where a change materially reduces what the service does, we will give notice where it is reasonable to do so.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for the loss of a pet, for the acts of other users, or for anything arising from your reliance on the service to recover a pet.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
9. Ending your use
You may delete your account at any time from the app. Deleting your account removes your profile and your content according to our privacy policy.
We may end your access if you break these terms.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When a change is material we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
11. Contact
